Ladies Handgun Update

We wrapped up 2015 with over 50 Ladies attending the Ladies Handgun Safety Class. The fourth Saturday Ladies Day has been well received with over 40 shooters showing up for follow-up instruction and shooting. The Club authorized $400 for the program and we used that money to purchase silhouette targets and some stand supports as well as Shoot-N-C targets, .22, .380, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, 9mm and .45ACP ammo so the Ladies could have a well-rounded shooting experience. Some of the Ladies who came through the class shot some very impressive groups. One Lady, who had no experience, picked up a Ruger Mark II, with a red dot scope, and shot a four shot group that could be covered with a dime. Another Lady picked up a red dot equipped Les Baer .45 ACP and shot a ten shot group that was a ragged hole.

In addition to the $400 club sponsorship, a special thanks to Mary and Gary Krietsch for their generous donations of instructional aides, printing costs and a brick of .22 ammo. Susan and Tom Larsen, (W&W trailer sales), donated a brick of .38 special, a brick of .22 ammo and targets. Virgil Faulkenberry found two bricks of .22 ammo he had squirreled away and donated them to the Ladies class. And anybody I may have missed, Thank you!!

We can't forget to thank the instructors who brought out over 25 of their personal handguns and ammunition to make them available so the Ladies could handle, shoot and feel the difference between the different makes, models and calibers. Thank you Amber Heidinger, Joe Vecchio, Jim Wilkie, Gary Krietsch, and Jim Guedmin.

And lastly, thanks to the Range Masters who have Saturday duty and have to hold the crowd of handgun shooters back from the 25 yd. range until 11:00 am while the Ladies class finishes up. Thanks for your patience guys!!

All the instructors and myself are looking forward to 2016 classes and increasing the attendance on the fourth Saturday the month — Ladies Day at RGC.
