With the lifting of California's and Humboldt County's COVID restrictions (and the reopening of our meeting venue), we will have our first open Club Meeting in over a year. July 12, 2021 at 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church located at Del Norte & E Streets in Eureka. The entrance is in the alley. Meeting begins at 6:30pm.
A Safe Place to Shoot
Redwood Gun Club is centrally located near Arcata and Eureka on the Samoa peninsula, we offer a safe place to shoot in a friendly environment. Whether you are a new or experienced shooter, Redwood Gun Club is the place for you. We have several ranges, including a handgun range with 15 & 25 yard lanes and 100 & 200 yard rifle ranges. We also have three dynamic ranges for action shooting (Limited hours, see calendar for dates and times).
A $20.00 fee (cash only) per person per day is collected from non-members. Juniors (under 18) are free and must be under the immediate supervision of a parent or guardian. Active duty & retired Military, Reserves and National Guard are free with proper ID.
Whether you are sighting in your rifle for deer season, are interested in some friendly competition or just want to do some plinking, Redwood Gun Club will meet your needs and have you coming back for more of our fresh sea breezes and friendly atmosphere.
Good news! We will be reopening the range as planned on June 6th! The range will be fully staffed this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
Going forward, please keep a close eye on the calendar, scheduled RSOs are listed on it in magenta. If there are three RSOs listed, both the rifle and pistol ranges will be open. If two RSOs are listed, the Pistol Range will be closed. If one or no RSOs are listed, the range will be closed.
Please maintain six feet distance from and at least one empty shooting bench between members of other households whenever possible.
RGC's Executive Committee has made the decision to extend the temporary range closure and suspension of all club activities through the end of May. All matches, events, classes, organized practices, and public days are cancelled. Your Executive Committee is continuing to monitor developments and we are making plans for reopening our range.
The health of our Range Safety Officers, members, and our guests is paramount.
In an effort to help protect the health and safety of our members and guests during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Executive Committee for Redwood Gun Club has chosen to enact a temporary range closure and suspend all club activities. All matches, events, classes, and public days are cancelled through the end of April. Your Executive Committee is monitoring developments and will provide updates on plans for reopening our range.
Begining August 1st, 2017, that is. Many of us already use eye protection on the range because it just makes a lot of sense, nobody wants to lose their eyesight. (Some of us don’t have that much left!)
If you already wear eyeglasses, you’re good to go, as far as the rules are concerned — nobody is going to check your glasses for their ASTM rating. Although, if they aren’t shatterproof, you may want to wear safety glasses over them and get the shatterproof option the next time you update your prescription.
